SHARE THE CARE GIFT CATALOGUE
The Burnet Institute is proud to introduce to you our new Share the Care Gift Catalogue. This new initiative focuses on our work in Mozambique in Southern Africa and is part of our long-term program there. Here are just some of the gifts you can buy – there are boxes of chicks, and loaves of bread, you can cover the school fees for AIDS orphans or cover the cost of HIV prevention information for the general community.
Rather than promoting this approach to giving just at Christmas we hope you will see the merit in using Burnet’s catalogue for your special gift giving right throughout the year. The time is right to share the care, and with this catalogue we hope we can count on you to help.
The Burnet Institute in Mozambique
There is no getting away from the catastrophe that is AIDS, or the devastating affects that it has on individuals, families, businesses and communities, in fact on everything it touches. Burnet has been working in Mozambique for eight years and our focus is on developing the capacity of local organisations so they are better able to respond, alongside Government, to the increasing needs of AIDS affected communities. We work in the central provinces, where HIV prevalence is highest and the need for our assistance the greatest. We take a holistic approach to capacity development and help local organisations acquire greater capability across a number of key areas such as management and governance as well as HIV technical areas so they can deliver effective HIV prevention, treatment, care and support services. Formal and informal training, ongoing mentoring and support and the provision of resources form the core of our capacity development approach.
How our local partner organisations work in the community
If you make a donation to our Mozambique program we can assure you your money will be put to good use. It will provide local organisations with the resources they need to continue their vital work within their communities, providing counselling and education for the community and critical care and support for orphans and vulnerable children so they can have enough food, get an education and have someone to count on and care for them. Your support will also enable community carers to continue their very demanding voluntary work with the sick and dying in their community.
